Living Man-Made Marvel- The Auli Lake

picture of frozen lake in Auli

No you can't dive into the lake unless and until you wish to die from Hypothermia, then you can go all commando. In fact the lake gets all frozen up in Mid or late January and it all depends on the amount of snowfall the region receives. But nonetheless, the lake is one of the highest man-made water bodies at an elevation of 2505 meters(approx 10,000ft) for tourists to get utterly mesmerized by the lake itself with snow-capped mountains in the background. If you wish to visit Auli in the month of December, the magnificent lake is something you can't skip from your Auli itinerary.

The Inevitable Joshimath

You can't miss this city as it will be a destination that will come in between your way to Auli. You can wish to stay in Joshimath before going to Auli when planning your trip. The city serve as a main point to all the famous Himalayan trekking trails including the sacred Badrinath and to fun places like Auli ropeway.

You can choose to camp in Joshimath or can go directly to the white snow paradise through a shared or personal taxi or ropeway(preferred).

For Extreme Enthusiasts- The Gurso Bugyal Trek

Snow covered mountains enroute Gurson Bugyal trek

Situated at 3000ms above sea level, the Gurso Bugyal trek is not for faint-hearted travellers. The trek is meant to be done in spring-summer season but for extreme breathless adrenaline rush some travellers prefer to do it in winters. You should have some prior trekking experience and its only safe to come with a trained trekker if you wish to visit the snow-covered peaks in the month of december.

To immerse yourself in the beautiful landscape of snowy mountains, the trek is something to lean on. It's just 1.5kms from Auli but the snowy uphill paths makes it very hard to cover this very short distance.

Don't forget to take quality pair of sunglasses and a camera shutter to make your social friends jealous and of course to capture the serenity and natural beauty.

Not To Be Missed-Auli Ropeway

chaircar in Auli for tourists

Gliding through the air and hovering over snowy white meadows is the kind of fun you can seek to experience while doing ropeway from Joshimath to Auli. The Auli ropeway connects the Joshimath city to the white paradise of Auli and further places for tourists to explore the complete landscape of the Uttarakhand city Auli.

Being at 3010ms of height above sea level, the ropeway should be on top of your list when you plan your trip to Auli Uttarakhand.

While most indians are not a great in skii, but it doesn't hurt to try something new. You can also take ropeway to Auli Ski Resort and try the activity to add more fun to your vacation. You can have to shell out approx INR 400 to endure the thrilling and breathtaking ropeway experience.

Chattrakund-The Adventure Paradise

A water body flowing amidst snow capped mountains enroute Chattrakund

The place is called 'frozen gem of Auli' due to its appearance in winters. You have to trek 3 kms knee deep in snow from Gurso Bugyal to reach and experience the calm serenity of this place.

Located at 3300m above sea level, Chattrakund is a sweet water lake famous for having crystal clear water in the summer season. The landscape around is snow-covered trees in winters which can serve pretty good as a backdrop for you next winter adventure in Auli.

If you are up for some adventure you might need some courage to trek here in winters. Don't forget all the necessary snow trekking equipment with a pair of sunglasses and you are good to go.

The ropeway from Joshimath will drop you till Auli and from there you have to hike up in order to visit Chattrakund.

Dive in The Extreme Serenity at Vishnuprayag

Confluence of two rivers

Snow-covered Mountains, ecstatic merger of rivers and a cup of 'Nukkad Chai' will be the perfect moment for you to capture in your visit to Auli in December. Vishnuprayag is the place where two tributaries of river merge into one big river we know as the sacred 'Ganga'.

If you believe in peace and want to attain nirvana while digging deep into your own conscious to find important answers of life, then Vishnuprayag could be your bet.

You can also visit the famous Vishnu temple with your family.

If you seek for some fun activities in Vishnuprayag then you must go for 'Chenab Lake trek' from Vishnuprayag but it can only be visited in summer as the place is closed due to heavy snowfall in winter season.

Strap on Ski Equipment at Auli Ski Resort

Developed and Maintained by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN), the place is a 3km long slope for ski enthusiasts. If you wish to try out skiing with your buddies, then GMVN will be happy to serve you by providing all the ski equipment you need.

It is advisable to take proper wollen belongings due to winter climatic temperatures. The best months to Ski in Auli is from December to late March. You can take a ropeway/cable chair car from Joshimath to reach the Ski resort in Auli.

Behold the Confluence of Rivers at Nandaprayag

Two tributaries of rivers meeting to become one

A picturesque town which lies in the heart of Chamoli district will definitely give you some most insta worthy photos.

The town is situated at the confluence of two rivers merging into one river known as the 'Dhauliganga'.

With temples all over the place, you can also find your lost soul or maybe a new cause to live when you take a deep breath of majestic and most importantly fresh air of Nandaprayag(unlike Delhi).

The place is a summer charm but winter gives it a spectacular white glow making it worthwhile to visit after or before your visit to Auli.

Get To See Natural Hotspring at Saildhar Tapovan

Natural Hotspring in Saildhar Tapovan Uttarakhand

A small village situated 15kms from Auli is known for its hot springs and tranquility. If you are thinking to go as far away from your 9-5 regular office, dipping in the Salidhar's hot springs could be the perfect getaway for you to plan.

I would suggest you to visit this place while coming back from Auli. Warming nature of villagers will give you memorable moments for lifetime clubbed with enchanting nature views you will die to capture inside your camera.

Spot The Convergence at Rudraprayag

convergence of two mighty rivers in Uttarakhand

Situated just 114kms away from Joshimath city, Rudraprayag is a famous place to get bewitched by the confluence of two river tributaries i.e. Mandakini and Alaknanda.

The place holds a deep sacred value to hindu pilgrims due to the presence of many temples based on lord shiva and parvati.

If you seek the thrill to hike to badrinath and kedarnath, you can decide to crash at Rudraprayag and look upon the stars when the moon lights up the black sky and if you are in luck maybe could catch a shooting star and count the constellations.

The Sacred-Vanshinarayan Kalpeshwar

front view of Kalpeshwar temple in Uttarakhand

Folks at trip advisor recommended to skip this place if you are travelling with your friends. Anyways temples inherit a sacred value and if you have strong beliefs and most importantly if not an atheist, then Kalpeshwar temple is just a 12 km round and round mountain drive from Joshimath.

The Shrinking Idol in Narsingh Temple

front view of Narsingh temple in Joshimath Uttarakhand

There is a story behind this place and I live for places with stories. Not haunting but its a religious kind of a story.

It is believed that when kalyug will end, a disastrous landslide will block the way to Badrinath temple resulting in the shift of Badrinath Idol to Bhavishya Badri which is 20kms from Joshimath.

This all events will happen after the right hand of Narsingh temple idol will fall to the ground giving a clear sign that kalyug is going to end. It is believed that the idol is shrinking day by day.

True/not true, you have to find that out by yourself. The temple is located in Lower bazar Joshimath which is just 10mins walking distance from Joshimath bus stand.

Temple with a Story-Vridh Badri Temple

closeup front view of vridh badri temple in Uttarakhand

Temple are always connected to a story and yes this comes with its own story. It is believed that the famous 'Narad Muni' (you guessed correctly- The one who's pickup line was 'Narayan Narayan') did 'Paschyatap'(Penance) which attracted Lord Shiva's attention and he ended up visiting this place as a disguised old man.

Due to the fact that Lord Shiva toured this place as an old man, the temple got its name the 'Vridh Badri' where Vridh is a hindi word meaning old. My suggestion only visit this place if you have ample of time.

Bad Idea

Sometimes when you feel all broken and sad, you feel frustrated, you feel left out. There's a difference between being alone and being lonely. When you are 'Alone' you just don't have someone special who can understand you like no one else. Who will take care for you and sacrifice for you like no one else, who will be the last person you think about before you go to sleep.

Being lonely means you don't have someone, neither friends nor family to which you can share your happiness and sorrows. Being lonely means you are all by yourself in this seven billion world population and there is no one in the world you can call yours, just exclusively yours. Following words are inspiration from a song-'Bad Idea' by Shiloh
(Play this song in the background and then try to read the poetry)

Being in love with you
seems like a really bad idea
Like a bad trip
I never want to visit.

Don't know if its me
Or my is it my destiny?
But being in love with you
Seems like a really bad idea.

Sometimes we get along
Sometimes we really fall from the cliff
Climbing up the hill with you
Seems like a really bad idea.

Don't know whether its me
Or my fuckin destiny?
Could we make it to the end?
Or give up before reaching?
This uncertainty between you and me
Seems like a really bad idea.
Me waiting for you
Seems like a really bad idea.

You have given up on love
Dumb me, never made to put it on
Still taking a chance
Still risking our peace
To break the boundaries
Breaking the virtual fence
Sometimes seems like a really bad idea.

Expectations always hurt
My heart aches, my head bursts
Building a gap
Between you and me
Could make the situation tense
Breaking the virtual boundaries
Climbing the gigantic fence
Sometimes It all seems like a really bad idea.

I want to take a deep breath and inhale
Want to take a leap of faith
Want to love and to be loved
I want to sleep in your arms
Want to kiss under the moon
Under the black sky
In the glowing silver dark
Want to hold your hand
Now its all choked up
I just want to exhale.
Please don't leave me to suffocate
Don't leave me to choke
All yellow and pale.

Take me to the lands unknown
Take me to the lands of green and grey
I can see the brown, smell the hay
Take me to the lands unknown
This could be a good reason to stay.
Take me to the lands of green
Can't you create our own private space?

Untie me, I will run for freedom
Run to live, stumble to be free
If you can live without me
I Will never hold you
I am my own master, my own god
I will climb the mountains
Burn down all the standing trees
What is on the other side
(I) Certainly want to know
I will make it a memory.
I am master of my own
Untie me, I wanna be free.
This uncertainty, this non joyful spree
Climbing mountains, these burning trip
All like a bad trip
I don't wanna visit
Sometimes it all seems to be a bad idea but I can't resist.

I m not so perfect
But baby are you worth it?
Baby you deserve it
Baby you are worth it.

I know you are not so perfect
But do i deserve it?
Baby am I worth it?
Could you ever hurt me?

Love is not the answer
But love is no disaster
It all will seem workin
We both will one day surfin.
Will one day be surfin
Climbing all the mountains
Racing against the ocean
Then maybe this all seems to worth it
without really being a  bad trip.

Superfluous Attractions

Sometimes when it just doesn't work out it will never work out but the most saddening part would always be-one is always throwing a chance to be bigger than himself. If you are familiar with living life on clicks then you can understand the intensity of taking a quick action based on any of particulars clicks. The below phrases deepens down the feeling of throwing something magical when a person has the potential to reach the stars.

You know the difference between you and me?
I don't divide love between relations
Love has always been pure
It's you who divided it to make it unfit for a cure.

For me, it was always about happiness
For me, it was always about soul
You messed it all up
And now you want to move along and scroll

Just go away and stroll
Just leave me behind and go haul
It tried to accept the way you are
Tried to make us an imperfect arch

But you were destined towards doom
We weren't a pair to gloom
Definitely not a strand
And neither someone to end it with a dirty slang

Every day I wait for you to leave me
What's the point in staying when we are
far
What the point to stray the long path
Friendship will remain, but it's the love
who have to wander with some broken darts.

Attractions are always superfluous
Always descending, always disastrous
These attractions these clicks,
Will take you nowhere
Will never give you bliss.

You were so tucked in past
Never cared to notice you burned the beautiful present,
No idea if it would have been my last
Or I had to find someone else to be my cast.

There are some things you can't present
You can't show, can't display the fuckin resent,
It could be something beautiful, something different

But you ordered your doom
Just for that bloody fool
You will never be able to bloom
And now after you lost your gloom
It's easy to predict the reality
And it's pretty easy to describe
That you can't be revived
Can't be saved even with a damn boon.

We spent so much time together
But today you were gazing your watch
Second by second, minute by minute
Now you know too much of me
My secrets, my insecurities
I will not say I failed in life
But not succeeded either
I will not say we had a connection
But it was something special
It was something to remember
Something to wrap and take good care of.

A Man with No Regrets

Sometimes possession can raise so many questions. Sometimes your heart wants another thing from what you dreamed of. Sometimes it not so easy to understand your inner feelings. The feeling of unacceptability can make anyone shiver to its core. These phrases belong to some unexplored parts of my heart and I am glad finally I explored them for a better future.

hand of a man upon white background

" He always wants a thing but suddenly deny its possessions
It's just a matter of time
When he starts to build new attractions
No regrets, no time to even look back
With small steps, big actions
He got no regrets to crunch emotional fractions
Got no time to even maintain the lust.

When he meets his clone
Just can't judge what's right or what's wrong
He can't even take a leap of satisfaction
Can't even care to follow his own regressions
Is he not responsible for his actions?
A man with unclear motives
Is not lost, just don't know where to go
What if in a hurry, he chooses the wrong path and fall?
The wanderer couldn't understand the actions
Still no regrets with no certain regressions.
Maybe he is not lost, he just wants to feel the thrill,
just want to make new stories
Just want to play his guitar on a new beat and chill.

On this road to immortality
He might experience some lag
Could get some pain, pointless vain
On this road to no strings attached
He might find an escape
He might find the gold,
May become immortal towards the end of the road.

He should be happy that he found what he always dreamed of,
But unacceptability always sweeps him off
He always tries to find shortcuts
What if he took the long road?
She just likes to play along,
But he just wants the long walks
He can't sing alone the broken prose. "

The presence of unseen blush
The chemistry between us
Is something I didn't imagined
Something I was looking from a very long time.

For no reason at all
I always thrive
For no reason at all
Your words strike

I always feel a connection between us
Connection of minds and intellect without any social bars.

With each passing day, we know more of each other
With every passing second, I wanna take our talks further
To see where they finally end?
A new beginning or just to the next level of awesomeness?

Someday I want to make a transit
From side hug to front
Its just I can't get enough
Wanna feel your hands
But don't want to rush
Do you mind if I search your untouched soul
For something different,
Something to hold?

Read further to know more about the best cocktails to try this weekend.

Mojito

A glass of Mojito drink topped with ice and mints leaves

The number one on this list would definitely be the most popular Mojito cocktail. Often pronounced as Mo-Jee-Too by many experienced, the exact pronunciation of the word is Mo-Hee-Too. The cocktail is a very sublime blend of rum, sugar, lime, and mint. The origins of this drink can be traced back to 1586 when a pirate experimented with Rum and a lemonade to make a classic mix of flavors and boom, Mojito was invented. One can sip this drink to inhale some refreshing vibes amidst the heart crunching life of metro cities. If you are beginner then, we would suggest you not to miss on this one.

Cosmopolitan

A glass of red colored Cosmopolitan drink

This gin-based drink dates back to early 1900s but the modern
version is very much different from its ancestors. Often categorized as girlish in nature due to its bright pink color and also for their liquor content, the cocktail is a perfect combination of tart and sweet flavors. Often made with Vodka, cranberry juice, triple sec and fresh lime juice, the cocktails provide an orgasmic amount of sweetness and sourness at the same given time. If you want to keep the mood light and mild, then Cosmo (cosmopolitan) would be the best cocktail for you to drink for the night. The showcasing is also very fancy as the drink is served in a martini glass making it the perfect drink to be uploaded on Instagram and several other social accounts.

Bloody Mary

A glass of red coloured Bloody Mary cocktail

This cocktail has so many stories of its name’s origin that the internet is filled with questions and answers of from where the Bloody mary cocktail got its name. The ingredients should sound a bit odd but the drink is a delightful concoction of certain parts of vodka mixed with the same amount of tomato juice and many other spices like black pepper, celery, olives, hot sauces, salt etc to provide a punchy flavor to the vodka based refreshment. If you have tried the two most basic cocktails i.e. Mojito and Cosmopolitan, then you can try this one just to tick it off from the list. If you like then you can try it with different spices and can play with the amount of vodka and tomato juice to see what kicks you hard.

Screwdriver

A glass of Screwdriver Coctail

Believe me, you have tasted this drink but doesn’t know it yet. The drink is a fine mixture of vodka and orange juice. Refreshing and delightful at the same time, every Indian have tasted this drink at a friend’s party but are too wasted to know its name. Every vodka admirer has tasted this classic drink and likes to have it occasionally to keep the overall mood light and extremely mild. If you want certain punches and kicks from the drink, then my friend this drink is not your type. You can enjoy this drink and at home very easily by mixing equal amounts of vodka and orange juice with lots and lots of ice to favor the two different flavors.

Sangria

Glass of Sangria

Red in color, the Sangria gets its name from the Spanish word Bloody. The refreshing drink is a classic mix of dark fruits, cognac, and straight alcohol like rum, gin or vodka. To make the authentic Sangria one have to mix some fruity wine or something very flavoury like Grand Marnier or flavored Midori to add refreshing fruity taste mixed well with certain amounts of vodka, gin or rum. The fruits which you can add to the classic drink generally belong to the category of raspberries. Strawberries and blueberries work great when mixed well into some red wine. To make your liquor hard, you can then add some vodka, gin or rum to sip ultimate fruit refreshing drink for a mild hit.

Hogg on to Street Food at Nukkadwala, Vatika Business Park, Sohna Road

A small eating joint inside the premises of Vatika Business Park, Sohna road. Nukkadwala struck me when I was busy searching the internet for those sweet cigarettes. Yeah, you guessed it right, Phantom cigarettes bingo! That's when I decided to give it a try during one of our super busy weekday shift. The place was not so far away but took us an hour to get there, thanks to the disruptive traffic rules of our country.
The place is not that huge but big enough to accommodate 30-35 people including its open seating. The place has been well shaped and well designed given the amount of space they have. Wooden seating around one half of the eatery with a stand of popular Hindi comic books in one corner. The ceiling is used well with long hanging lights and paintings for decorating the front wall. Super clean surroundings and restaurant's neatness makes it one of the best lunching option in the corporate lanes of Sohna road.

Coming to my Lunch order. We had:

Amritsari Kulche with Chole

Absolutely amazing to talk about. Chole had a tangy taste and the chur chur kulcha stuffed with masala potatoes were soft, crunchy and yummy.

Tawa Soya Chaap with Lacha Parantha

I liked Tawa Soya Chaap more. Chaap was soft, cooked well and the curry was thick, flavoured with a good amount of spices.

In drinks we had:

Shambhu Shikanji

Sweet Lemon Shikanji flavoured with blue colour was refreshing in taste.

Meerut Shikanji

More of a danedar masala lemonade. A bit too much masala. Took a while to gulp it down.
